July 16th - Amazing Praises
We had an eventful day today. We spend the morning doing crafts with the kids. They are amazing in the detail that they can do. In the afternoon, we returned and spent lots of time playing outside, using the parachute, playing baseball and jump rope. Natalie and Bob went shopping with Mr. Shao, Maggie and some of the nannies. They bought 3 air conditioners, a few combination washer and dryers (wish we had those in the states), a rice cooker, hot stove and arranged for painting. Apparantly here in Fushun we you buy paint, you buy the services of the guys to paint the rooms. The price was so reasonable that Natalie asked if that was correct 4 times and wound up getting a discount because she seemed to be a hard bargainer. While we were playing outside we were visited by Mr. Wong the head of Civil affairs for the city of Fushun which is the equivalent of a governer. Pretty amazing. He thanked us for our generosity and we were able to share that we were volunteers working with visiting orphans and were here representing our churches family and friends and above all Jesus. This was pretty important to him. He even waited about 45 minutes for Natalie and Bob to come back so that he could meet them. I will post some pictures for the day in the next few entries.
